It really depends on the occasion, such as wedding, business dinner, Christmas party or other such activity. Now, me being a biker chick, I like the boots. i have tried hot and cold and that doesn%26#039;t help. They are too tight to fit anything inside of. I got one off but the other one is really stuck. They are coswtum made and i don%26#039;t want to cut them off

With the bootjack, you wedge the heel of your boot in the mouth of the jack and stand on the other end, and pull your foot from the boot.
If no bootjack is available, you need another person.
Have them straddle your leg and grasp the boot heel. With them pulling, and you pushing on their rump with your other foot, you should be able to get it off.
Once you get it off, take them back to the bootmaker and see if he can stretch them to a better fit.
If they are custom made for your foot, they should not be that tight.

I just bought a pair of Nine West boots, they are all black smooth leather upper. I was wondering should I put some leather protector or leather lotion on them? I do not plan on wearing them a lot, and I want them to last so I can use them throughout the year into next winter.

When new you have all the moisture content needed and by stating %26quot;smooth%26quot; I%26#039;m guessing a surface finish. This is the protection your leather needs- as long as the finish is cared for you dont need to do anything other than condition the leather with a high quality product such as lexol. keep the boots stuffed when not using to keep their shape, wipe off any water or dirt as soon as you can. Mink oil as a component of a conditioner is fine- pure mink oil is not designed for this type of leather and will ruin it, as will saddle soap.

my husband%26#039;s steel-toes are soaked and he needs them for work tomorrow. he wants to use the clothes dryer, but i think it will damage the boots and perhaps the dryer! HELP!

then anything you dry in there any time afterward will get those rust spot copies
use a small fan lay the boots on their sides
loosen the laces so the tongue of the boot will hang out
let the fan blow into the boots for a couple hours
then flip the boots over to the other side and give it a couple more hours

It depends on the boots but if you get them wet while you have them on and wear them until they are dry they will shape to your foot.

Using the Lincoln USMC wax you will want to heat a lit bit of it up by holding a lit lighter over the top of the wax in the can. Use this melted wax (while it is still liquid) for a base coat on the shoes. By melting it, the wax will fill in even the smallest imperfections in the leather. The smoother the surface, the more light it reflects. This is what gives it the mirror look. Rub it in hard and make sure you get an even coat on the whole shoe. Once you get a good base this way, a standard spit shine will keep them looking good. Salt water can mess up your base coat, if you get a lot of salt on them you may have to strip them and start over.

Leave to dry then polish as normal.
As its boots your colouring, you may need a couple of the kits as I believe one kit is sufficient for one pair of shoes.

I am not sure about the people who colour wedding shoes and they do not need to use deep colours like black but you could ask them

Then the same color leather polish is then used to %26#039;reinforce%26#039; the longevity of the color and to add protection from scuffs and scrapes. In order to %26#039;re-dye%26#039; the leather, you must first remove as much of the external polish as possible which can be difficult to do with out harming the leather. Even after you do that, you have still have a leather base that has soaked in the original color that you cannot remove. Adding an additional dye to the boots will take in some places ok and not ok in others. You can then follow with a boot polish that is of the same color as the dye. These process will yeild a decent result about 85% of the time.
So... yes it can be done... but your running 15 to 20% risk of ruining the boots and I would expect a less than satisfactory results. You can bring your boots to a shoe/boat repair place and ask them to do it. However, I think you%26#039;ll find that the cost to change the color is only slightly less than the cost to buy a pair already in the desired color.

Reply:Not that ladies would want to do this, but in the military, we stretch out boots and also break them in by wearing them in the shower, soaking them and then wearing them around a bit. Yeah, not exactly rocket science, but well I%26#039;d much rather see a lady walking around looking funny in her own house than trying to stretch out some spandex, or halter top. *Pukes at the thought*...
I%26#039;d say you could buy something somewhere to do it. If not, make something out of a wooden post. Similar to your calf size, with a taper on it. Or being the genius that I am, get a round piece of wood, have a hole drilled completely down the center of it, and then cut it down the middle as well, making two half circles. Then buy some all-thread, and put a tapered pin on each end. Put two nuts on one end, and tighten them together, making a jam nut. Then put that end in the boot, and on the other end you have a nut that you can screw down to pull the two tapered pins together inside the boot causing the two pieces to expand apart. A lot of work, but well since I haven’t had this problem myself, just think once you have the jig made, you can always reuse it, unless your calves keep growing. Reply:Not that ladies would want to do this, but in the military, we stretch out boots and also break them in by wearing them in the shower, soaking them and then wearing them around a bit. Yeah, not exactly rocket science, but well I%26#039;d much rather see a lady walking around looking funny in her own house than trying to stretch out some spandex, or halter top. *Pukes at the thought*...
I%26#039;d say you could buy something somewhere to do it. If not, make something out of a wooden post. Similar to your calf size, with a taper on it. Or being the genius that I am, get a round piece of wood, have a hole drilled completely down the center of it, and then cut it down the middle as well, making two half circles. Then buy some all-thread, and put a tapered pin on each end. Put two nuts on one end, and tighten them together, making a jam nut. Then put that end in the boot, and on the other end you have a nut that you can screw down to pull the two tapered pins together inside the boot causing the two pieces to expand apart. A lot of work, but well since I haven’t had this problem myself, just think once you have the jig made, you can always reuse it, unless your calves keep growing. They still might get a bit damp after several hours as water can work its way through the stitching - but if you are walking through snow occasionally - it should do the trick.

Boots and leather are protective clothes for riding. All forms of riders call them leathers. So the reason for the leather and riding boots is because they%26#039;re riding a motorcycle. White beards come from being old, as you age your hair will turn white, plenty of people that aren%26#039;t old ride motorcycles. I see people riding with all kinds of different clothes and lack of protective gear? I%26#039;ve seen a guy take off his helmet and his pony tail of hair was part of the helmet, I%26#039;m told it is a common Wild Hogs type poser thing!

I never really bought into the Harley fad. I like Harleys but of all the bikes I%26#039;ve owned Harley is the only one that has left me stranded beside the road. Maybe it was just bad luck. Now I%26#039;m a little gun shy when it comes to Harleys. Maybe the Harleys that I owned were lemons.
The most dependable bikes I%26#039;ve owned were Honda Goldwings and the Honda Shadow 1100. I made a few cross country trips on them and never had a problem. Yes, it could have been a stroke of good luck.
I think the Harley fad is kind of dying off. Nowadays riders enjoy riding and want something thats not going to break their bank savings and dependable. Could be that Harley broke it%26#039;s own rule of marketing and flooded the market. Now there is alot of V-twins on the market for anyone interested in a V-twin cruiser. No, ..... they are not Harleys but they will get you from point A to point B comfortably and in the same time as a hog. The good thing is that you will have a little more cash in your pocket when you arrive.
I%26#039;m not bashing any bike. The important thing is to enjoy your ride. If you have the bucks for a top of the line Harley and thats your choice, ..... go for it! It%26#039;s your money and you have the right to spend it on whatever.

No pony tail, I keep my head shaved ( now, but I used to have a hair down to the small of my back). If you take a motorcycle safety course, you%26#039;ll see the minimum suggestions/requirements are boots that came over the ankle, leather or other appropriately heavy jacket to protect against road burns should you fall, then there are the gloves, helmet, and eye protection.

Some Harley fanatics seem to think that Harleys are Gods gift to motorcycle riders. They are called RATS (real all timers) You won%26#039;t find these guys riding shiney new Harleys or wearing the latest leather gear from the Harley shop. Some RATS paint over the Harley logo because they don%26#039;t want to advertise. The bikes they ride might still leak a little oil (they say it%26#039;s marking it%26#039;s spot). Most RATS appear a little dirty. Not because they are but because they work on their own scooters and can%26#039;t afford to take it to the dealer everytime something goes wrong. Riding is a way of life. Not many true blue bikers around these days.
Then there is the URBS (urban rural bikers). Most are middle class with regular jobs and etc. They like to cruise on the weekends and sometimes watch the RATS at a safe distance. Nowadays in their driveway parked beside the Harley is a late model Silverado, Dodge, or Ford truck.
