How can I soften the leather of my new boots ?

I have new footbal boots and they are tight. How can I soften them ?

How can I soften the leather of my new boots ?
When I was in the army we used to be told to urinate in our boots and leave them for the night. Wearing them will soften them, but obviously you know this.

Another alternative is to wear them in the bath.
Reply:Bear grease will soften them. It's also a water repellent.
Reply:The best thing to soften leather is Dubbin, its made from pig fat and it not only softens the boot but protects it too
Reply:the best thing is ''leather food'' or ''bag balm'', bag balm is used on cows udders and its great for the boots and your skin too, leather food on the other hand is probably somehow not so good for your hands but I don't know that, but hey, its called leather food, you should put in on a couple of times a year to keep them a long time. I neglected mine since I finished college and put them on a while back and cracked the leather all down the side, just bought a new pair
