How to maintaining my winter clothes and leather boots in good conditions if i don't wear it? Help Pls.?

Hang the clothing in the bathroom when you bath or shower, the rub gently with a soft cloth. This is a grime cleaner.

Then let it dry out naturally.

Us a good spray like%26quot;Wilsons leather protector%26quot; its free of silicone that break down the natural oils. Put on a wide hanger and cover with breathable cloth ie:- cotton sheet. Never use plastic, creases usually %26quot;hang out, but if neccessary you can press out with a warm iron, but use brown paper under the iron, then hang away for an hour or two.

Dont store clothes in a warm stuffy place they need space to breathe.Shoes and boots can be done in a similar way(except the ironing)Plastic dries out the leather

Reply:Hi,

Maybe you could try using cheapest prices search engine. I shop a lot and I use them all of the time.

They compare prices from all of the merchants and have consumer reviews. Try entering leather care or store clothes care. I really hope this helps you.

Reply:Have the clothes dry cleaned and put away in plastic bags, boots should be polished and also put in a plastic bag.
Reply:Put your clothes in plastic storage containers like tupperware storage boxes. And put moth balls in them to keep moths out of your clothes (they love to eat cotton).

As far as your boots stuff them with newspaper or get those wooden shoe thingys and that will help them maintain their shape. and put them in another plastic container. It%26#039;s best to store your clothes in the house instead of say outside in a garage where heat can get to your clothes.
Reply:For the clothing:

Get garment bags, lots of them.

For sweaters, knits, and stretchy items, fold them neatly. Leaving them on a hanger for extended periods of time can stretch them out.

Use wooden or padded hangers for tailored coats, suit jackets and tailored dresses.

Use plastic tubular hangers for lightweight blouses, shirts, dresses, and pants. If it%26#039;s heavy, it can pull out the shape of the hanger.

Use hangers with clamps for skirts and pants, if you choose not to fold the pants on a plastic hanger.

NEVER USE METAL HANGERS! They ruin the shape of your clothing, and can rust leaving the rust on the clothing.

For the boots:

Polish the boots, then put them back in the box they came in. If you don%26#039;t have the box, use a breathable material, to store them. An old pillowcase will work. Tightly sealed shoes and boots can mold or mildew without air. They make things that you can insert into your boots and shoes to help them maintain their shape, or you can stuff them with cheap tissue paper from a dollar store.

Most important, make sure the clothing and the boots are completely clean before storing. Make sure there is no dirt on the soles of the boots, and polish them well with a leather protector. Don%26#039;t store them in plastic containers. It won%26#039;t allow your clothing and boots to breathe, and can create a moisture-rich environment leading to mold and mildew. Make sure you don%26#039;t put them anywhere that%26#039;s damp if you use cardboard boxes.

Wash the clothing one last time before storing, but don%26#039;t use fabric softener, bleach, or starch. The chemicals can attract bugs.
