I recently bought a pair of leather boots and need to stretch one slightly.......has anyone done this?

How do you stretch leather - serious answers only?
You can get a boot stretcher but then you run the risk of stretching them too far. I'd recommend that you go to a professional shoe tailor/repairer. There are a few around, not many but a few. I can't recommend any because I don't know where you live. But look them up in the yellow pages or ask around. And they should be able to make it fit you perfectly with a guarantee that it will fit and they won't ruin them.
Reply:use castor oil to wet the boot. u might wet the boot too with water, wear them for a while, then use lots of papers to dry them. also use boot forms or a boot stretcher. or see a shoe repair shop.
Reply:they have boot stretcher things. I dont know where you can get them but they look like a foot with aleg and you put it in the boot and turn a handle or atleast I think that is what it was
Reply:You might try something called Boot Slip On Spray. It actually stretches the leather a bit. You spray the area that needs to be stretched, slip on the boot and let it dry. It's $3.99 at State Line Tack and works great. I've only used it on my leather field boots that needed to stretch slightly in the ankle, but I would think it would work fine on any leather boot. To find it easily, click on English at the top, Footwear and Socks and then Boot Accessories.
Reply:if you are talking about because they are too tight for your feet, then i use to put some damp newspaper in and stuff the toe area tight, the other way is just too wear them around at home first, as leather is a natural product it actually stretches by itself as you wear it, and then i t will fit too you. most leather shoes are tight, otherwise then you complain they too floppy
