California Banned Adidas Boots because of Kangaroo Leather!?

Are they trying to tell us we can't shoot our national symbol?

What about the millions of them that are dying from dehydration anyway!

Does anyone in California wear leather?

California Banned Adidas Boots because of Kangaroo Leather!?
Well, my good friend 'down under', we may have a bit of an issue here, because I am not overly thrilled about killing any kind of animals just to make a quick buck.

There were a number of outcries when it was learned that hunters clubbed to death baby harp seals for their fine white fur. In fact, the baby harp seal became the poster child for animal rights group worldwide.

Obviously we kill thousands of animals every day to provide food and other necessary commodities, but this is done very humanely. I just came from a website (listed below) which gives a slightly different picture of the killing of kangaroos. If, in fact, this site is accurate in its reporting, then I can certainly understand the desire to stop Adidas and all the other boot makers. The use of skins from sick or dying animals is one thing, but it appears that thousands of these guys (and the joeys), who are quite healthy, are slaughtered routinely.

For sure, no matter what you or I have to say on this site is in no way going to change what's happening. But based upon today's technology and the ability to create virtually indestructible boot materials, I see no need to destroy perfectly healthy and defenseless animals, just so some big name soccer player can say, "Yup, this is genuine Kangaroo hide, now aren't I special."

But, let me qualify all this by saying that I don't know the complete story and perhaps there are mitigating circumstances that justify the killing, so for now, just consider this my personal opinion.

Peace,

Buzzy
Reply:Yes we wear leather. We have acres of cows here so were not hurting for animal hide. Besides Kangaroos are cute! Look we had to ban something this week. How else to stay on the cutting edge of conservationism? We have a reputation to uphold you know.
Reply:How is using Kangaroo leather different from using Cow leather? I don't agree with either (I'm one of those vegeterian types) but consistency is needed. Let them sell whatever they want in Carlifornia.
Reply:first off, since when is the kangaroo our national symbol?? and for a name like Animal Lover you sure don't seem like the type who would protest against the mutilation of animals for the benefit of fashion.
Reply:you bet ye, save the kangeroo's.
