What does Leather Seal do to your boots? Does it work well?

I heard it protects your tall boots from getting ruined. Does it work well? Is it like a polisher?

well no not really, just get a plain boot polisher, it will be fine.
Reply:Leather is skin and skin has pores that let water and air in. the seal will block out the water and keep your boots safe from damage It will also seal up the stitching so the cords will not rot and help your boots last longer. it is not a polish as it is designed to be absorbed.
Reply:Silicone forms plates that coat your leather and reduce water permeability. It does not waterproof it makes your boots water resistant. This means you can stand n water for a little bit longer before you notice your feet are getting wet.

The down side is the edges of the plates cut into the leather and wear it out much faster than they would otherwise wear out. This is somewhat offset by the fact that they stay drier and do not decay as fast. Whether it improves the lifespan will depend on how often they get wet and how much they are worn.

I prefer Sno-Seal for natural leather type boots. It does tend to darken the leather however so I would not use it for dress type boots. Sno-Seal is a paraffin wax in an oil base. Therefore it has no plates to cut into the leather.
