What is the best way to store leather shoes and boots? Can they be stored in a plastic bin?

There is really no problem with leather shoes unless you are in extreme conditions---over 150 degrees or below 50 degrees for a significant length of time. Leather tends to dry out and crack under both extremes. If you are storing them in the closet of your home which probably has an average temperature between 65 and 80 degrees, you can store your leather shoes in just about anything. I use a shoe rack so that I can easily see my shoes. You can use the plastic shoe bins with lids that you buy from the dollar store also but to ensure they stay nice, always wipe them down with a dry cloth to get any debris off them before putting into the box. You of course want to keep your shoes conditioned by using a good leather creme that you can get from better shoe stores---hope this helps.
